Waking Up, Taking Action ![]() Mandate Trade Union's 7th Biennial Conference takes place in the Radisson Hotel in Galway this weekend, Sunday, 25 April 2010. This year's conference is entitled, Waking Up, Taking Action and as the name suggests, Mandate wants to encourage its members to be more aware of issues that affect them and participate and contribute fully in society, beginning with this conference. Mandate says a relatively minor commitment by all union activists during this week will enable a real and positive change for retail workers in the workplace and in society in general. More ... Click here to view it now Dunnes Stores Threatens to Clamp Kerry Workers Over 180 Dunnes Stores staff members in Tralee and Killarney will have their in-store parking facilities withdrawn on Monday, 26 April 2010. The company has informed staff they will be clamped if they use the same spaces they've used for the last 17 years in the store, and as a result, it is estimated that the workers will experience a 10-15% pay cut in order to pay for private parking. Connolly Shoes Workers back on the Picket Line Mandate members in two Connolly Shoe stores in Dun Laoghaire are once again on strike regarding the aggressive behaviour of their employer who is unilaterally reducing their terms and conditions of employment. Mandate says the employer is breaching previously negotiated agreements with the staff and as such, the workers feel they have been left with no alternative but to strike again.
